สโมสรบีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด ประกาศยืนยันคว้าตัว เฟรดดี้ อัลวาเรซ กองกลางตัวรุกทีมชาติคอสตาริกาวัย 28 ปี จากสโมสรเอฟซี ชคูปี่ ในลีกสูงสุดของมาซิโดเนีย เข้ามาร่วมทัพอย่างเป็นทางการเรียบร้อยแล้ว เพื่อเสริมความแข็งแกร่งก่อนที่การแข่งขันฤดูกาล 2023/24 จะเริ่มขึ้นในช่วงเดือนสิงหาคมนี้

ในฤดูกาล 2017 อัลวาเรซ ย้ายไปเล่นต่างแดนครั้งแรกกับ เดปอร์ติโบ มูนิซิปัล ในลีกสูงสุดของประเทศเปรู ต่อมาในฤดูกาล 2020/21 อัลวาเรซ ออกเดินทางข้ามทวีปไปหาความท้าทายใหม่กับสโมสรเอฟซี ชคูปี่ ซึ่งตลอด 3 ฤดูกาลในลีกสูงสุดของมาซิโดเนีย เจ้าตัวลงสนามช่วยทีมในรายการใหญ่ของฟุตบอลยุโรปเช่น ยูฟ่ายูโรปาคอนเฟอเรนซ์ลีก รอบคัดเลือก, ยูฟ่า ยูโรปาลีก รอบคัดเลือก และ ยูฟ่า แชมเปียนส์ลีก รอบคัดเลือก

BG OFFICIAL: Costa Rican midfielder Freddy Álvarez joins BG Pathum United

BG Pathum United has completed the transfer of Freddy Álvarez, 28, from FC Shkupi in preparation for the upcoming domestic 2023/24 season and the 2023/24 AFC Champions League Play-off round.
​
The former Costa Rica U21 and U23 attacking midfielder made his professional debut with Saprissa and went on to play for other clubs in the Costa Rican top flight such as CS Uruguay de Coronado, La U Universitarios, and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. Álvarez’s first venture abroad came in 2017 when he signed with Deportivo Municipal in the Peruvian first tier. Álvarez took his talent overseas for the 2020/21 season when he joined Macedonian first-tier side FC Shkupi.

In his three seasons with FC Shkupi, Álvarez would lead the club onto the pitch in prestigious competitions such as the UEFA Europa Conference League Qualifiers, UEFA Europa League Qualifiers, and UEFA Champions League Qualifiers. Álvarez made a total of 29 appearances in 2022/23 and manages to score 10 goals while also registering 20 assists before agreeing his transfer to BG Stadium where he’ll be wearing the number 14 jersey.
