ยะโฮร์ โดนก่อนเหมือนเพิ่งตื่น แต่การต่อบอลไม่ประติดประต่อ ขณะที่ขุนพล “เดอะ แรบบิท” ถอยมาตั้งรับอย่างมีวินัย ก่อนจะประคองสกอร์ที่นำอยู่ 0-1 ไปจนจบครึ่งแรก

12 December 2023, Sultan Ibrahim Stadium. BG Pathum United takes on Johor Darul Ta’zim on matchday 6 of the 2023/24 AFC Champions League Group I.

In the 28th minute, BG Pathum United surprised the home crowd with a 1-0 lead from Igor Sergeev. From a counter-attacking move, Santipharp Channgom found space and time to curl a cross from the right flank into the 6-yard area. Igor Sergeev provided the killer instinct and pounced from close range.

In the first half added time, Arif Aiman Hanapi’s deep cross was nearly headed into the far post by Feroz Baharudin—Johor Darul Ta’zim’s best chance of the first 45 minutes despite having the majority of possession.

In the second half, JDT was awarded a penalty after VAR spotted Danilo Alves with the handball. The Brazilian striker received his second yellow, sending BG Pathum United down to ten men. Bergson fired straight down the goal to equalize 1-1 for JDT.

In the 65th minute, Bergson shoots from 30 yards outside the box. Chatchai Bootprom had to dive at full stretch to palm the ball away from the goal.

Minutes later, Matthew Davies’s forward pass finds Bergson in the right channel. The Brazilian striker hits a powerful low shot into the far left post. 2-1 for the home team in red and blue.

In the 73rd minute, substitute Ikhsan Fandi got his head on Santipharp Channgom’s cross at the back post. Unfortunately, the Singaporean striker could not keep his attempt on target.

In the 82nd minute, Arif Aiman Hanapi dazzled his way past the BG Pathum United players from the left flank inside towards goal. The little attacker’s curling shot from inside the box was brilliantly saved by Chatchai Bootprom. Heberty Fernandes and Matthew Davies got their chance to shoot from the rebound but both were denied by the blocking defenders.

In the 86th minute, substitute Endrick Dos Santos struck from inside the box to make it 3-1 for JDT. A deserved goal after lengthy spells of dominance from the Southern Tigers.

Arif Aiman Hanapi added the misery in the 2nd minute of extra time with an amazing run from the halfway line that took out Surachat Sareepim and Shinnaphat Leeaoh and ended with a neat finish into the net. 4-1 to the Malaysian powerhouse.

For the next game, BG Pathum United will take on Khon Kaen United in the Thai League 2023/24 on 16 December 2023. The kick-off begins at 6:00 PM at Khon Kaen Provincial Stadium.
