เมื่อ 20 ธ.ค. 66 บีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด อันดับ 2 เวทีไทยลีก ลงสนามศึกเอฟเอ คัพ 2023/24 รอบ 32 ทีม ด้วยการออกไปเยือน ชลบุรี เอฟซี ทีมอันดับ 15 ที่สนาม ชลบุรี ยูทีเอ สเตเดี้ยม จ.ชลบุรี ซึ่งเป็นครั้งที่ 2 ในซีซั่นนี้ ที่ทัพ “เดอะ แรบบิท” ยกพลมาเยือนชลบุรี หลังจากครั้งแรก พบกันบนเวทีไทยลีก ปรากฏว่า บีจีพียู บุกมาชนะ 1-3 เมื่อ 25 พ.ย. 66 ในส่วนถ้วยเอฟเอ คัพ รอบ 32 ทีม บีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด หมุนเวียนผู้เล่น หลายตำแหน่ง โดย ธีรศิลป์ แดงดา ล่าประตูคู่กับ อิคซาน ฟานดี้ โดยมี เฟรดดี้ อัลวาเรส ปั้นเกมรุก ขณะแดนกลางบัญชาเกมโดย พิธิวัตต์ สุขจิตธรรมกุล และ สารัช อยู่เย็น กัปตันทีม ส่วนด่านสุดท้ายเป็นหน้าที่ของ ฉัตรชัย บุตรพรม

เริ่มเกมบอลอยู่กลางสนามเป็นส่วนใหญ่ นาทีที่ 7 ชลบุรี ทักทายก่อนจากการปั่นด้วยซ้ายนอกเขตของ มูริลโล่ เฟรตาส แต่ ฉัตรชัย บุตรพรม รับเข้าซองสบายมือ ถัดมาสองนาที ชลบุรี สวนกลับ วิลเลียน ลิร่า กระดกบอลให้ มูริลโล่ เฟรตาส ควบเข้าไปซัดในเขตโทษแต่ ฉัตรชัย บุตรพรม ออกมาปิดมุมได้อย่างยอดเยี่ยม จากนั้นนาทีที่ 12 ยังเป็นเจ้าถิ่นที่เริ่มบุกได้น้ำได้เนื้อ วิลเลียน ลิร่า พาบอลขึ้นมาทางซ้ายก่อนตะบันกว่า 30 หลา ฉัตรชัย บุตรพรม ยังไวพอที่จะล้มตัวปัดได้ทัน

ผ่านไป 25 นาที เกมของ บีจีพียู เริ่มดูดีขึ้น ได้ต่อบอลมากขึ้น แต่ยังแก้เกมกับดักล้ำหน้าของแนวรับเจ้าถิ่นไม่ได้ ถัดมาสองนาที ชลบุรี สวนกลับ กฤษดา กาแมน วางยาวจากแดนตัวเองให้ พงศกร ตรีสาตร์ สอดมารับบอลที่เสาสองแล้วตบกลับไปเสาแรกถึง วิลเลียน ลิร่า พักอกแล้วซัดจ่อๆ ข้ามคาน เข้าสู่ท้ายครึ่งแรกนาทีที่ 37 ชลบุรี ยังได้เสียวต่อเนื่อง กษิดิศ กาฬสินธุ์ วางข้ามไปเสาสอง อมาดู อ็อตตารา สอดมาพักอกแล้วยิงทันทีตรงตัว ฉัตรชัย บุตรพรม ก่อนที่ 2 นาทีต่อมา บีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด เปลี่ยนตัว วัฒนากรณ์ สวัสดิ์ละคร แทน วิคเตอร์ คาร์โดโซ่⁣

เข้าสู่ 5 นาทีสุดท้ายของครึ่งแรก บีจีพียู ได้ลุ้นในนาทีที่ 40 เฟรดดี้ อัลวาเรซ วางจากซ้ายเข้าเขตโทษ อิคซาน ฟานดี้ วิ่งเบียดไปกับ อี ชาน ดง กองหลังชลบุรี ก่อนล้มไปทั้งคู่ แต่ อิคซาน ลุกได้ก่อนแล้วซัดชนคาน บอลมาเข้าทาง ธีรศิลป์ แดงดา ซ้ำดาบสองถูก ชนินทร์ แซ่เอียะ ปัดได้อย่างเหลือเชื่อ กระทั่งนาทีที่ 41 บีจีพียู ตั้งลำได้ เฟรดดี้ อัลวาเรซ คืนบอลให้ สารัช อยู่เย็น แล้วแทงต่อให้ ธีรศิลป์ แดงดา ดึงหนึ่งจังหวะแล้วเปิดทะลุช่องให้ อิคซาน ฟานดี้ สอดมาซัดเน้นๆ ไม่พลาด ส่งให้ บีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด ออกนำ 0-1 เมื่อหมดครึ่งแรก

ครึ่งหลัง บีจี ปทุม ยูไนเต็ด ส่ง เจนรบ สำเภาดี แทน อิคซาน ฟานดี้ และเป็นชลบุรี ที่โหมบุกใส่ทันที แต่ยังไม่มีช่องเข้าทำ ก่อนที่ ดานิโล่ อัลเวส จะลงมาเพิ่มมิติเกมรุกให้บีจีพียู แทน ธีรศิลป์ แดงดา ในนาทีที่ 52 แต่เจ้าถิ่นยังตั้งหน้าตั้งตาบุกจนครบหนึ่งชั่วโมง กระทั่งนาทีที่ 75 ชลบุรี ยังบุกกดดันต่อเนื่อง ชาญณรงค์ พรมศรีแก้ว พาบอลมาถึงหน้าเขตโทษ แล้วซัดเรียดเสียบเสาตามตีเสมอให้ ชลบุรี เอฟซี 1-1 และครบ 90 นาทีด้วยสกอร์นี้ ต้องต่อเวลาพิเศษ 30 นาที เพื่อหาผู้ชนะ

Wednesday 20 December 2023. BG Pathum United take on Chonburi FC at Chonburi UTA Stadium in the Chang FA Cup 2023/24 Round of 32. Chatchai Bootprom starts in goal for the third consecutive match. Shinnaphat Leeaoh returns to the line-up in central defence alongside Victor Cardozo and Jakkapan Praisuwan. Santipharp Channgom and Ryhan Stewart complete the right and left wingback, respectively.

Head coach Thongchai Sukkoki kept the same midfield-three of Phitiwat Sookjitthammakul, Freddy Alvarez, and Sarach Yooyen that played against Khon Kaen United on the weekend. Up top, Teerasil Dangda returns to fitness and starts next to Ikhsan Fandi as the two strikers.

The home side tested BG Pathum United early from a quick throw-in from the left flank. Willian Lira Sousa volleyed a brilliant through ball behind the Rabbits defensive line for Murilo to chase. Victor Cardozo tried to keep up with the Shark attacker but Murilo was simply too quick and able to get a shot in. Luckily Chatchai Bootprom was well-positioned to block the shot away with his leg.

Chonburi FC’s attacking wave continued in the 12th minute via Willian Lira Sousa once again. The Brazilian cuts inside from the left channel and hits a powerful low shot towards the near post. Chatchai Bootprom, yet again, was quick to save the danger.

39th minute substitution for BG Pathum United. Victor Cardozo off. Wattanakorn Sawatlakorn on.

In the 41st minute, Teerasil Dangda picked up the ball in between the lines and slipped a killer pass through for Ikhsan Fandi. The Singaporean striker beat the offside trap and slotted home a neat finish inside the near post to send BG Pathum United 1-0 up before the break.

In the 59th minute, substitute Ben Davis carried the ball into the BG Pathum United box then set up Willian Lira Sousa with a shot from the edge of the box that flew inches past Chatchai Bootprom’s right side post.

In the 75th minute, Chonburi FC equalised to 1-1 from Channarong Promsakaew’s low shot from the edge of the box.

In the 80th minute, Kritsada Kaman floated an outswinging right-sided corner kick to the near post. Lee Shandong got his head on the ball and flicked the cross to the far post. Chatchai Bootprom dives at full stretch, gets his hands on the ball, and denies the goal with the help of the post. Unlucky for the boys in blue and a brilliant save from the rabbits goalkeeper.

Substitutions for BG Pathum United in the 2nd minute of added time. Freddy Alvarez and Wattanakorn Sawatlakorn off. Apisit Sorada and Igor Sergeev on.

Chonburi FC ended the better side after 90 minutes but it remained 1-1 as both teams entered the 30 minutes of added extra time.

From a corner kick, Chenrop Samphaodi headed the ball from the back post into the centre for Danilo Alves. Surrounded by a crowd of Chonburi FC defenders, the Brazilian turned to face the goal and placed a left footed shot into the side of the net. Chanin Sae-ear tried his best but could not reach his right side corner of the goal. 2-1 for BG Pathum United in the 99th minute.

In the 107 minute, Kritsada Kaman chipped a freekick from the right flank into the danger area. Jakkrapong Sanmahung powers a header from the centre of the penalty box only to see his attempt fly off target. Big chance missed by Chonburi FC.

In the 112 minute, substitute Phithak Phimpae played a give-and-go pass with Yotsakorn Burapha. The ball bounced up from Yotsakorn Burapha’s poor return pass and unintentionally set up Phithak Phimpae for a volley that flew over Chatchai Bootprom into the net. The Sharks fought back to 2-2 in added extra time.

The game headed to penalty shootout and it was the Sharks who were more deadly from the spot – winning 4-2 in the duel. BG Pathum United’s Chang FA Cup journey ended with defeat at the Round of 32.

For the next match, BG Pathum United will return to BG Stadium as they welcome Nakhonpathom United in the Thai League 2023/24. The kick-off begins at 7:00 PM.
